Taqueria Jalisco

This place is so good that they have two locations! I’ve only been to the location on 82nd, but they are my favorite go-to for birria tacos, al pastor, and breakfast. They’re the reason why you’ll always want a little bit of cash on hand at all times. They’re cash only.

I was a little nervous before I moved to Portland, Oregon.

After living in California my entire life, I was worried that I wasn’t going to find my favorite cuisines in the PNW, especially Mexican food. Or if I did, I didn’t think I’d find anything close to what I was used to experiencing back at home. I was so unbelievably wrong about that.

Taqueria Jalisco is a no frills, cash only, quick eatery. It reminds me of the taco trucks I’m used to back at home, but better because they also have a covered seating area if you want to eat there.

For breakfast, I’m always ordering their carne asada breakfast plate with sunny side up eggs and a side of tortillas. For lunch/dinner, I typically order a couple birria tacos with consume, birria quesadilla, and a couple al pastor tacos. I think their al pastor is delicious and you can just taste that all their meat (especially the birria beef) is cooked to perfection.

I'm a food fanatic and hope to connect with others that are passionate about it too. I love sharing recipes, cooking, and trying new things. I'm also obsessed with taking photos of food so I plan to use this as a medium to scrapbook all my eateries.
